If we are truly trying to follow Jesus more closely, can we relax? We can relax in the sense of taking some time off from work to enjoy life and be with family and friends. In fact, we should do this. But we must never relax our vigilance in surrendering our Will to Jesus and conquering our self wills. Conversion doesn't mean a somber face and a joyless life. It means life to the full and true joy. Relaxation as the Lord would have it is part of the converted life. Remember that Jesus enjoyed meals with his friends, took the apostles off to a desert place to get away from their work, and celebrated a marriage feast with his Mother and disciples. Conversion means following Jesus, not just in the penance and sacrifice but also in the joyful and relaxing times of life.
