Hypocrisy means pretending to have virtues and qualities that you don't have. It's pretending to be someone you are not. Yes, we fail daily, sometimes even minute by minute. And we don't live up to the promises we made to ourselves. However, when we pretend to be perfect, we are being hypocrites. Trying our best is not hypocrisy; acting as if we have reached it is. Conversion begins with who we are, not pretending to be who we aren't yet. Patience is required to become who God created us to be. A mask of perfection just gets in the way of our spiritual growth.
