A greeting is a joyous welcome to someone else, a connection between two people. At Mass, the priest greets the people, and they also greet each other at the Sign of Peace. When we meet someone, we should wish them peace and blessings. Taking time to greet another is a way of saying that the person is important to you. As we move along the path of conversion, we need to understand the importance of the other person and to acknowledge that person with respect. Rather than ignoring someone by being too busy or shy, we can greet him or her with a smile or a nod of the head. This acknowledges their presence and their dignity. We can greet Jesus in that person's soul by a simple, kind recognition.
