Do Not Be Afraid

When Saint John Paul II was elected Pope, the first Polish Pope ever, he began his pontificate with the words of Christ to the apostles, when he spoke to them of martyrdom -- "Do not be afraid." Those words apply to those on the path of conversion, too, Not that we should fear martyrdom because that may never be our lot, but we have many other fears--fear of rejection for our new faith, fear of what God will ask of us, fear of letting God down or ourselves or others. There is no place for fear on the path of conversion. Reject fear and embrace the grace of God which gives courage and guidance. God will never ask more than you can deliver nor will He abandon you. Trust, pray, and don't worry, said Padre Pio. How true!
